1)Ministry of Ayush and Minority Affairs Collaborate for Development Unani Medicine System

Ministry of Ayush and Minority Affairs have joined hands to promote and help the development of the Unani System of Medicine in India. The Ministry of Minorities Affairs has granted RS 45.34 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), which is a centrally sponsored scheme. Unani Medicine will be upgraded with the support of this scheme in Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Silchar, and Bengaluru. The grant approved by the Ministry of Minorities will help in the establishment of various facilities of Unani Medicine in the mentioned locations.

Unani medicine is a traditional system of healing and health maintenance observed in South Asia. The origins of Unani medicine are found in the doctrines of the ancient Greek physicians. As a field, it was later developed and refined through systematic experiments by the Arabs.

2)What is UDAN 5.1?

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik), a scheme aimed at improving connectivity to remote areas of the country. The latest version, UDAN 5.1, focuses on last mile connectivity through helicopters.

UDAN 5.1 marks a significant development as it is the first round under RCS-UDAN specifically designed for helicopter routes. The scheme aims to bring air connectivity to remote areas where traditional airports are not feasible. By utilizing helicopters, it becomes possible to reach even the most inaccessible regions, promoting inclusive development.

The UDAN scheme has had a transformative impact on air travel in India. Passengers have gained increased access to air connectivity, airlines have received concessions for operating regional routes, and unserved regions have experienced economic development. UDAN 5.1 aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of affordable air travel to remote destinations, bringing these areas closer to mainstream opportunities.

Goa Signed MoU with Uttarakhand for Strengthening Tourism Cooperation

The Government of Goa and the Government of Uttarakhand have come together and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the tourism landscape of both Goa and Uttarakhand. The MoU signing ceremony was held in the presence of Rohan Khaunte, the Minister for Tourism, IT, E & C, Printing and Stationary, Government of Goa, and Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

Benefits

Both states will get benefit from direct flight connectivity between Uttarakhand and Goa, the travel time is reduced from 7 hours to 2.5 hours, making it easier for tourists to travel between the two states.

Both Goa and Uttarakhand have unique cultural identities that will be showcased to offer tourists a glimpse into India’s diverse cultural heritage.

Calcium-41 radiometric dating

Since its invention in 1947, carbon dating allowing scientists to estimate the age of an organic material based on how much carbon-14 it contains. Carbon-14 has a half-life of 5,700 years. So, the technique can’t determine the age of objects older than around 50,000 years

In 1979, scientists suggested using calcium-41, with a half-life of 99,400 years, instead. Calcium-41 is rarer, occurring once in around 1015 calcium atoms.
