  1. PRESIDENT TO ADDRESS PARLIAMENT TO MARK 75 YEARS OF CONSTITUTION

SUBJECT : POLITY

  • Constitution Day of India or Samvidhan Diwas aims to honor the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Indian Constituent Assembly in 1949.
  • Our Indian Constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949 and came in effect on 26 January 1950.
  • The day is also celebrated as Samvidhan Divas through the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar.

MAKING

  • 9 December 1946: The Constituent Assembly sat for the first time.
  • 11 December 1946: Rajendra Prasad as President, Harendra Coomar Mookerjee and V.T. Krishnamachari as the Vice Presidents were elected, and B. N. Rau as Constitutional legal advisor was appointed.
  • 13 December 1946:  Jawaharlal Nehru introduced the famous “Objective Resolution” in the Assembly, which laid down the philosophy of the Constitution of India.
  • 22 January 1947: The Resolution was unanimously adopted by the Assembly.
  • July – October 1947: Preparation of the first draft by the Constitutional advisor
  • Drafting committee produced the draft Constitution by February 21, 1948, which contained 315 Articles and 8 Schedules.
  • 4 November 1948 – 9 November 1948 (First reading)
  • 15 November 1948 – 17 October 1949 (Second reading)
  • 14 November 1949 – 26 November 1949 (Third reading)
  • 26 November 1949: The Constituent Assembly passed and adopted the Constitution of India.
  • 24 January 1950: The Constituent Assembly elected Dr. Rajendra Prasad as the first President of India and, adopted the National anthem and National song.

2. CABINET APPROVES NEXT PHASE OF ATAL MISSION

SUBJECT : NATIONAL

The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog as AIM 2.0, with an allocated budget of ₹2,750 crore until March 31, 2028.

AIM 2.0, a flagship initiative under NITI Aayog aims at piloting new initiatives to fill gaps and scale success in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Increasing Input 

  • Language Inclusive Program of Innovation (LIPI): Establish Vernacular Innovation Centers in existing incubators in scheduled languages.
  • Frontier Program: Create customized templates for Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Ladakh, the North Eastern states (NE), Aspirational Districts and Blocks.

Improving output through

  • Industrial Accelerator program: Create Industry Accelerators in critical sectors in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
  • Atal Sectoral Innovation Launchpads (ASIL) program: Build iDEX-like platforms in central ministries.

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog is Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country and was setup in 2016.

3. BHUTAN PITCHES GELEPHU AS BIGGEST COOPERATIVE PROJECT

SUBJECT: BILATERAL

Pitching the upcoming Gelephu Mindfulness City as the biggest “co-operative project” in Bhutan, the Bhutanese Prime Minister recently said that he was grateful for India’s support on the 2,500 sq.km. “Zero Carbon” city being developed.

  • It is an innovative urban development project that integrates economic growth with mindfulness, holistic living, and sustainability. 
  • It is a first-of-its-kind Special Administrative Region (SAR) in Bhutan.
  • The planned city will have eleven “ribbonlike neighborhoods” that incorporate the area’s 35 rivers and streams.
  • The city will have its own international airport.
  • It will have its own government and have the independence to have its own law making, as well as an independent judiciary.
  • The GMC will have two protected areas – a national park and a wildlife sanctuary.

4. ₹6,000 CRORE SCHEME TO HELP STUDENTS ACCESS JOURNALS

SUBJECT: NATIONAL

  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved One Nation One Subscription,  a new Central Sector Scheme for providing country-wide access to scholarly research articles and journal publication.
  • A total of about Rs.6,000 crore has been allocated for One Nation One Subscription for 3 calendar years, 2025, 2026 and 2027 as a new Central Sector Scheme. 
  • The benefits of One Nation One Subscription scheme will be provided to all Higher Educational Institutions under the management of the Central or State Government and Research & Development Institutions of the Central Government, through a national subscription coordinated by a central agency, namely the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET), an autonomous inter-university centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
  • This is in line with the goals of Viksitbharat@2047, National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).

  • Best Artificial Insemination Technician, and
  • Best Dairy Cooperative Society (DCS)/ Milk Producer Company/ Dairy Farmer Producer Organization
