  1. GAGANYAAN : ASSEMBLY OF HLVM3 BEGINS AT ISRO FOR UNCREWED FLIGHT

SUBJECT: SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

  • Gaganyaan is the 1sthuman space flight programme of ISRO.
  • Objective: To demonstrate indigenous capability of human space flight to low earth orbit.
  • Launch vehicle: GSLV-Mk III, also called the LVM-3 (Launch Vehicle Mark-3).
  • Payloads: Crew Module: It is the spacecraft carrying human beings.
  • Service Module: It will support the crew module and is powered by liquid propellant engines.
  • This mission consists of: Two unmanned missions (G1 & G2):2nd uncrewed mission (G2) will carry “Vyommitra” (a female-looking humanoid robot developed by ISRO to function on-board the Gaganyaan). 
  • One manned mission (G3):The Orbital Module of the crewed mission will carry three Indian astronauts, including a woman into space for 7 days. It will orbit the Earth at a low-earth-orbitat an altitude of 300-400 km.
  • India will become the 4th nation in the world to launch a Human Spaceflight Mission after USA,Russia,and China.

2. ALL 17.130 POLICE STATIONS IN THE COUNTRY LINKED THROUGH CENTRALISED ONLINE PLATFORM CCTNS

SUBJECT: NATIONAL

  • The Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), launched in 2009with a ₹2,000 crore budget, now connects all 17,130 police stations across India. This centralized online platform integrates various aspects of policing, such as filing FIRs, managing charge sheets, and maintaining criminal records.
  • Crime Records: It includes details of accused individuals, habitual offenders, proclaimed offenders, missing persons, unidentified bodies, and stolen vehicles.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: It ensures 100% registration of FIRs across 28 states and 8 union territories.
  • Analytical Reports: Facilitates analysis of criminal cases and trends at the police station level.
  • Enhanced Integration: Forms part of the Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS) with links to prisons, courts, prosecution, forensics, and fingerprints.

3. FORMULATIVE POLICY TO MANAGE SACRED GROVES, SC TELLS GOVT

SUBJECT: ENVIRONMENT

  • The Supreme Court has instructed the Union Environment Ministry to formulate a comprehensive policy for managing sacred groves across the country, emphasizing their ecological and cultural importance.
  • The Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972empowers states to declare sacred groves as community reserves.
  • The National Forest Policy, 1988, encourages communities to maintain forest patches for their needs.
  • Nationwide Survey:Identify the area and extent of sacred groves.
  • Clear Boundaries: Mark boundaries but allow flexibility for growth.
  • Community Rights:Protect traditional and cultural rights of communities over the groves.
  • Prohibiting Unauthorized Use:Ensure legal mechanisms against misuse.

4. GAGAN GILL, EASTERINE KIRE TO GET SAHITYA AKADEMI AWARDS

SUBJECT: PERSONALITIES

  • The prestigious Sahitya Akademi Awards were announced, recognizing literary excellence in 21 languages across diverse genres.
  • Notable recipients: Gagan Gill: Hindi poet awarded for her poetry collection Main Jab Tak Aai Bahar.
  • Easterine Kire: English novelist honored for her novel Spirit Nights.
  • About Sahitya Akademi (India’s National Academy of Letters)
  • It was founded in 1954as an autonomous body under the Union Culture Ministry and is dedicated to promoting literature in Indian languages.
  • It is the central institution for literary dialogue, publication and promotion in the country and the only institution that undertakes literary activities in 24 Indian languages.
  • It was registered as a society in 1956 under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.
  • Awards: The first Awards were given in 1955. The award is in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque, a shawl, and ₹1,00,000.
  • Bhasha Samman: It also gives special awards for significant contributions to the languages not formally recognized by the Akademi and for contributions to classical and medieval literature

5. FOREIGNER’S ENTRY RESTRICTED IN MANIPUR, MIZORAM, NAGALAND

SUBJECT: STATES

  • The Union Home Ministry has reinstated the Protected Area Regime (PAR)in Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland,citing security concerns due to an influx of foreigners from neighboring countries.
  • Foreigners visiting these states must now obtain prior permission and special permits from the government.
  • Exceptions are made only for cases of “extraordinary reasons.”
  • PAR relaxation, introduced in 2010 to promote tourism, was extended for five years and valid until December 2027.
  • The reimposition immediately revokes this relaxation.
  • Concerns over cross-border issues and security threats.
  • Increased monitoring of foreign nationals entering the states
  • Emphasized that organizations or individuals making questionable claims, such as the “Kuki-Zo Council” and “Lamka headquarters,” are under scrutiny for potential external influences
