1)Ekatha Harbour
Recently, India and Maldives marked a major step in their growing defence cooperation by launching the construction of a harbour- ‘Ekatha Harbour’ for the Coast Guard of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) at Sifavaru in Uthuru Thila Falhu (UTF) atoll (a few miles northwest of Male).
The development of the coast guard is one of the biggest grant-in-aid projects of India. The UTF Harbour Project was announced in 2021.
Maldives is among India’s key maritime neighbours in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and New Delhi has been seeking to expand ties with Male including in areas of defence and security amid China’s efforts to expand its influence in the IOR.
2)Nationwide AHDF KCC Campaign
As part of the Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahostav celebrations, the Union Ministry for Fisheries, Animal husbandry and Dairying has launched the Nationwide Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries (AHDF) KCC Campaign from 1st May 2023 to 31st March 2024.
The campaign aims to expand the benefits of the Kissan Credit Card to all eligible animal husbandry, dairy, and fishery farmers in the country.
The campaign will provide credit facilities to small landless farmers engaged in animal husbandry and fisheries activities.

1)Uttar Pradesh govt plans ‘Ramaland’ in Ayodhya modelled on Disneyland
Ayodhya as a global tourism hotspot, the Uttar Pradesh government is planning to develop a theme park ‘Ramaland’ modelled on Disneyland to narrate the story of Lord Ram. With Ramaland, the tourism department is looking to attract children and adults alike to showcase the legendary tales from Ramayan in the template of ‘learning with entertainment’.
The deliberate transformation of Ayodhya is estimated to value Rs 30,000 crore to the exchequer below ‘Ayodhya Imaginative and prescient 2047’ theme. These funds are targetted to be invested in about 260 initiatives pertaining to tourism, aviation, infrastructure, housing, medical, vitality, tradition, city improvement, transport and so on. The expenditure will likely be incurred collectively by the central and the UP governments. These initiatives embrace Sensible Metropolis Mission, widening of roads, fashionable bus terminals, unclogging the overhead electrical energy provide cables, beautification of ghats, cultural centres and so on.
2)Land Consolidation (for Special Projects) Act-Tamil Nadu
The Tamil Nadu government adopted a Bill that seeks to enact the Tamil Nadu Land Consolidation (for Special Projects) Act.
It aims to streamline the process of consolidation of government lands for large projects
It also seeks to regulate the process of the exchange of lands involving water bodies, and the protection of such water bodies.

Global Report on Food Crises 2023
The Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC) for 2023 was produced by the Food Security Information Network (FSIN) and released by the Global Network against Food Crises (GNAFC). The GRFC report serves as a reference document for acute food insecurity at the global, regional, and country levels. The primary objective of the report is to provide independent and consensus-based evidence and analysis that can inform humanitarian and development actions.
This latest data shows that the world is far behind in achieving food security and improved nutrition. The report is a reminder of the world’s failure to progress towards the Sustainable Development Goal of zero hunger by 2030. To address the issue, the report calls for urgent and coordinated action by governments, humanitarian organizations, and the private sector.

Dubai becomes the host for the inaugural edition of the Global Chess League
Global Chess League (GCL), a joint venture between FIDE and Tech Mahindra, announced Dubai as the venue for the inaugural edition. In the presence of key dignitaries such as Dr. Aman Puri, Consul General of India, Dubai, Viswanathan Anand, five-time world chess champion, and Deputy President, FIDE, CP Gurnani, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Tech Mahindra, Parag Shah, EVP & Head, Mahindra Accelo and Member, Global Chess League Board, and Jagdish Mitra, Chairperson, Global Chess League Board, in the Gulf city.

World Portuguese Language Day 2023 observed on 5th May
The 40th session of UNESCO’s General Conference, in 2019, designated May 5th as “World Portuguese Language Day,” in honor of the Portuguese language and Lusophone cultures. The Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP), an intergovernmental organization that includes countries where Portuguese is spoken, established this date in 2009, and has been in official partnership with UNESCO since 2000.
