  1. RESCUE TEAM YET TO CONTACT WORKERS TRAPPED IN TUNNEL

SUBJECT: DISASTER MANAGEMENT

  • Location: Srisailam Left Bank Canal Project tunnel, Nagarkurnool, Telangana.
  • Incident: Tunnel roof collapse during excavation; 8 workers trapped since Saturday.
  • Rescuers reached150 meters from accident site, but mud & debris hinder progress.
  • Rescue Operations
  • Teams involved: NDRF, SDRF, Army, NHIDCL, Singareni Collieries.
  • Challenges: No heavy machinery due to train tracks in tunnel. § Lack of food & water may cause unconsciousness.
  • Measures Taken: Dewatering operations, oxygen pumping, public address system to locate survivors.
  • Naval MARCOS requested for assistance

2. UNESCO HERITAGE TAG SOUGHT FOR SHIVAJI FORTS

SUBJECT: HISTORY (ART AND CULTURE)

  • Proposal: Maharashtra delegation seeking UNESCO World Heritage Statusfor12 Maratha forts.
  • Key Forts Included: Lohagad, Salher, Raigad, Shivneri, Rajgad, Sindhudurg, Pratapgad, Panhala, Vijaydurga.
  • Gingee Fort (Tamil Nadu) also part of bid.
  • Concept: “Maratha Military Landscape of India”

3. INDIA TO HOST A CONFERENCE ON WOMEN PEACEKEEPERS

SUBJECT: SOCIAL ISSUES

  • India to Host Conference on Women Peacekeepers (IR & Gender Issues)
  • Event:Two-day conference onWomen Peacekeepers(Feb 24-25, New Delhi).
  • Participants: Women peacekeepers from35 troop-contributing countries in the Global South.
  • Organizers: Ministry of External Affairs (MEA),Defence Ministry, andCentre for UN Peacekeeping.

  • Schrödinger Cratersingled out as a  primary target for more detailed exploration.
  • Significance: Assists in planning safe landings for future lunar missions (e.g., Chandrayaan-3).

5. HEALTH MINISTRY BANS EXPORT OF DRUGS CONTAINING TAPENTADOL, CARISOPRODOL
