1)Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh to Inaugurate 8th All India Pension Adalat in Delhi
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh is set to inaugurate the 8th All India Pension Adalat in Delhi on May 17. This initiative, organized by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, aims to resolve chronic pension-related cases. Additionally, the Minister will preside over the 50th pre-retirement counselling (PRC) workshop, providing retiring civil employees with essential information and guidance for a smooth transition into retirement.
The All India Pension Adalat, launched on an experimental basis in 2017, has been instrumental in resolving pensioners’ grievances efficiently. Through the integration of technology and a collaborative approach, stakeholders involved in each case are brought together on a common platform, ensuring timely resolution of pension-related issues. In the previous seven adalats, a total of 24,218 cases were taken up, with 17,235 cases successfully resolved.
2)50 Start-ups Exchange Programme
India and Bangladesh have initiated a start-up exchange programme to foster collaboration and partnership between the entrepreneurial communities of both countries. The programme aims to explore opportunities, share knowledge, and enhance cooperation in various sectors. The first group of 10 start-up companies from Bangladesh recently completed a successful visit to India, marking the beginning of this exciting initiative.
The exchange programme includes start-ups from sectors such as e-commerce, health, transport and logistics, energy, education, and skill development. The selected start-ups represent a diverse range of industries, reflecting the potential for collaboration and innovation between the two nations.

Odisha Millet Mission
The Odisha Millet Mission (OMM) has emerged as a significant initiative by the Odisha government to revive millet cultivation and support farmers in the state. Under this flagship program, the government has successfully procured a substantial quantity of ragi or finger millet, benefiting thousands of farmers.
The Odisha government has achieved an impressive milestone by procuring over 600,000 quintals of ragi under the Odisha Millet Mission. This procurement not only provides farmers with a secure market for their produce but also encourages the cultivation of ragi, contributing to the revival of this nutritious grain.

India-Indonesia bilateral exercise ‘Samudra Shakti-23’ begins
- The fourth edition of bilateral naval exercise Samudra Shakti between India and Indonesia has started from 14 to 19 May 2023.
- INS Kavaratti has reached Batam, Indonesia to participate in this exercise session.
- Kavaratti is an indigenously designed and built ASW Corvette. A Dornier maritime patrol aircraft and Chetak helicopters of the Indian Navy are also participating in Exercise Samudra Shakti-2023.
- The Indonesian Navy is being represented by KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda, CN 235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft and AS565 Panther helicopters.
- The harbor phase of the exercise includes visits by each other’s warships, professional interactions, exchange of subject matter experts and sporting activities.
- During the sea phase, activities such as weapon firing, helicopter operations, anti-submarine warfare exercises and air defense exercises and ship operations are planned to be conducted.

‘100 Days 100 Pays’ Campaign
- RBI announced a ‘100 Days 100 Pays’ campaign for banks.
- It aims to trace and settle the top 100 unclaimed deposits of every bank in every district of the country within 100 days.
- The deposit which does not see any activity like the infusion of funds, withdrawal, etc. from the depositor for 10 years or more, and is deemed as an inactive deposit.
